SegFault is a game made for the Patch Notes v2.0 game jam under the theme "Systems Offline"! During each level, the goal is to make the program on the right fail (make it go offline) by having it reach out of memory space or jump out of code space. Gameplay happens in 2 phases:

1) Memory editing: You get access to the program's memory and can change it freely. There is a maximum number of change you can make, though, listed at the top of the page. To change a memory address, click the address and type the number you want it to be changed to. Press enter or space or select another address to deselect it. When you are done editing, press escape or B to move to phase 2.

2) Program running: Press space or enter to step through the program as it runs! There are 8 instructions, based on Redcode/Corewars, as follows:

MOV - Moves a into b, overwriting what was in b

ADD - Adds a to b and puts it in register 0

SUB - Subtracts a from b and puts it in register 0

MUL - Multiplies a and b and puts it in register 0

JMP - Jumps to the beginning of the line number stored in a

SLT - (Skip less than) Skips the next instruction if a is less than b

LIT - Moves the literal value of a into register b

NOP - No operation; does nothing

The > symbol is used as a pointer, and will look at the register number equal to the value stored at the given argument. For example, >3 will look at the register number stored in register 3.

If the program finished successfully, you lose. If the code is successful stopped, you win! Good luck!

P.S. I couldn't find any fitting music, but if you have ideas, leave a comment!
